Background


Mr Mansur Mallick Advocate and his family played an important role in the politics of Pakistan throughout its history, serving cause of civil liberty, democracy, rule of law and human rights. His family gained tremendous respect and recognition of their contribution in different ages by various schools of thoughts and key historical leadership of the country. Several members of his family have made significant sacrifices for the country starting from the movement for independence of Pakistan. Later, Mallicks have also served Pakistani Government as elected representatives, Lawyers, Journalists, senior members of the Armed Forces of Pakistan, Doctors, Engineers and senior bureaucrats and technocrats over past 60 years.

Due to political background of his family and challenging political situation in India, Mr Mallick got involved in the political affairs from the time of his early youth. He founded and lead numerous youth movements, acted as journalist, Editor of Journals, news papers and later received the honour being elected President of Lahore Bar Association several times. He pioneered several social and professional movements that gained popularity nation-wide. In the later years he was elected as member of the Parliament and was recommended to hold the office of Minister of Law by the Prime Minister Z A Bhutto.

He has the honour of being one of the few politicians who has directly worked under the leadership of Quaid e Azam M A Jinnah and received several honours directly from him as a young activist in the movement for independence of Pakistan. Similarly, in the later years as a mature politician he worked alongside Z A Bhutto as his close ally and struggled for democracy and rule of Law.
