Introduction

Mr Mansur Mallick is a senior figure who contributed in the formation and development of several national political, democratic and social activities and movements at the key turning points in the history of Pakistan and India. He had the honour of leading student movements including Democratic Students Federation (DSF) in the struggle for formation of Pakistan under direct mentorship of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah and his allies. After inception of Pakistan, he emerged as renown leader in the lawyers movements across the nation having won several elected positions, professional and honorific titles and awards.

He is one of the few senior most founder members of Pakistan People's Party who worked alongside of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Former Primer Minister of Pakistan and contributed in the development of 1973 constitution of Pakistan. Well respected for completing numerous social development projects in the area of constituency and outside during parliamentary tenure in partnership with Mr Z A Bhutto.

Mr Mallick served several imprisonment sentences of upto 8 years ordered by the Special Courts of the Armed Forces of Pakistan under the then Dictator Zia ul Haq. Lead well known movements for the cause of democracy including Movement for Restoration of Democracy (MRD), People's Lawyers Forum (PLF), and held various offices in Pakistan People's Party (PPP) such as Membership of Central Committee and Federal Council, Senior Vice President of Punjab (appointed by Mr Bhutto), President of PLF and other important movements.

He has the unique honour of contributing in national politics beyond individual level involving his late wife, former member of Parliament Mrs Zubaida Mansur who held several important party positions and government offices under direct leadership of Ms Benezir Bhutto former Prime Minister of Pakistan. Mrs Z Mansur also became symbol of sacrifice and dedication having served several imprisonment sentences and bearing hardships of the Military dictatorship in the sole interest of democracy and human rights.
